“He was a bad mothef**ker monster!” Mike Tyson snubs Julio Cesar Chavez and Canelo Alvarez in the discussion for best Mexican boxer ever

Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez are well-known potential candidates for the best Mexican fighters. However, it appears that former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, has a different fighter in mind. As such, during an episode of the Hotboxin with Mike Tyson podcast, Tyson revealed Salvador Sanchez as the best fighter out of Mexico. Mexican boxing legend Sanchez was a featherweight boxer who rose to fame in the golden era of boxing.

Subsequently, he was a WBC featherweight champion and had a record of 44-1-1 with 32 KOs. As such, while talking about Sanchez, Tyson stated that he was a difficult opponent to defeat. Subsequently, Mike Tyson concluded that a decent fighter could last until the end of the fight. However, if the opponent was a great and skilled fighter, then Sanchez would put in more effort to defeat them dominantly. In addition, Tyson stated

He fights right above the level of the game that he’s fighting. He’s gonna f**k you up. He’s just above everybody else. He was just such a bad motherf**ker, monster!
Sanchez became a professional in 1975 and never looked back. He won every fight in the first two years of his professional career. He lost his first fight in 1977, but he took the loss in stride. Subsequently, he went on to become the WBC champion in 1980 and also defended his title 10 times.

He died tragically at the age of 23 after his Porsche 928 crashed into a truck on the highway in the Mexican city of Queretaro. Hence, in his short life, Sanchez left a mark in the boxing world, and Tyson even considers him a great fighter.

Mike Tyson talks about Salvador Sanchez’s focus

Tyson’s admiration of Sanchez is quite clear because he spoke about the Mexican fighter in another episode of his podcast. Furthermore, Tommy Davidson and Tyson spoke about Sanchez’s fighting style and technique.

Tyson again spoke about how Sanchez would dominate opponents more if they were great fighters. Hence, Tyson believes that Sanchez would not try hard against average opponents but would humiliate great fighters. Davidson agreed with this and even stated that his focus inside the ring was always evident.

In addition to that, one of the topics of discussion was how Sanchez’s concentration contributed to his success as a fighter. The conversation then moved on to other subjects, but their admiration for the deceased Mexican boxer was one of the highlights of the episode.
