Zion Williamson explains the various kinds of NBA trash talkers.

Zion Williamson named some of the players who he knew would have different kinds of trash-talk. Some of them were vocal and direct, while some did it just to prove a point. The New Orleans Pelicans forward was asked about the different trash-talkers in the league along with his Jordans partners Paolo Banchero and Luka Doncic, and they all had different names in mind.

Speaking on the IG video, Williamson said:

“There are different styles of trash-talking. You have Ant [Anthony Edwards]. Ant talks trash kind of directly. You have KD [Kevin Durant], but KD’s trash-talking is more of like, ‘Dude, I am just a better hooper’ and how he goes about it is like I can’t do nothing but respect it. And then you got somebody like.., he never initiates it, but when someone does talk trash, he takes it to another gear, that would be Kyrie [Irving].”

Also in the clip were Paolo Banchero who called Patrick Beverley as one of the trash-talkers he went up against. Luka Doncic had a blank expression, and kept it simple with a one-liner: “I can’t say”.

Edwards has been widely considered as one of the players who relentlessly goes about trash-talking his opponents. When he was plying his trade for the Minnesota Timberwolves, he took on Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray. Earlier, his Team USA mate Jrue Holiday called him the biggest trash-talker in the side.

Zion Williamson made headlines for his weight loss last month
Zion Williamson sent social media into a tizzy when he was seen sporting a new look and a new lean frame ahead of the start of the 2024-25 season. He recently hosted a basketball camp for kids in South Carolina and looked in top shape. Per Yahoo! Sports, the Pelicans star wanted to weigh 272 lbs by the start of the season, and that would mean he would be playing at his lightest weight.

In his five seasons in the league, Williamson was one of the players called out for his poor conditioning and weight issues. His defense suffering due to fatigue was a cause for concern, but it appears that he has been on a mission to fix the problem.

The Pelicans will now look to Zion Williamson and Dejounte Murray to help make the playoffs. With Brandon Ingram’s future looking hazy in New Orleans, Williamson will be looked at as the team’s centerpiece for the future.
