7’4 Zach Edey recreates iconic Manute Bol-Muggsy Bogues photo with 5’8 Yuki Kawamura
The Memphis Grizzlies’ new additions, big man Zach Edey and guard Yuki Kawamura, recreated the iconic media day photo of Manute Bol and Muggsy Bogues. The Grizzlies rookies struck the same pose Bol and Bogues did for the Washington Bullets in the 1987-88 season.
In the iconic photo, 7-foot-6 Bol stood beside 5-foot-3 Bogues, both wearing Bullets jerseys and holding three basketballs. In the Grizzlies’ recreation, 7-foot-4 Edey posed next to 5-foot-8 Kawamura.
Muggsy Bogues is the shortest player in the NBA history. He played 14 seasons in the NBA and established himself as one of the best guards in the NBA. He averaged 7.7 points, 7.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game in his career.

Manute Bol played 10 seasons in the NBA. He was an NBA All-Defensive second-team player and a two-time NBA blocks leader. In 12 seasons, he averaged 2.6 ppg, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.

NBA fans reacted to Zach Edey and Yuki Kawamura recreating the iconic picture of Manute Bol and Muggsy Bogues. While it would be difficult to match the iconic status of Bol-Bogues’ picture, fans liked the Grizzlies players paying homage to the NBA legends.
“What a hilarious duo! Love the height difference!” a fan wrote.

Some fans wrote that although they liked Edey and Kawamura paying homage to the legends, there wouldn’t be another Bol/Bogues in the NBA.
“I like it. Pay homage. But got to point out that Muggsy was much shorter and Manute was taller. We will never see another Muggsy Bogues!!!!” a fan wrote.
“Bol/Bogues with about 8” more of a difference,” another fan wrote.
