John Cena, The Undertaker, and ‘Stone Cole’ Steve Austin are reportedly set to appear in some capacity at WrestleMania 40 in early April.
The three legends will have a role at WWE‘s flagship event ‘in some form’ according to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Exact details are not set in stone and the financing and willingness of the icons will be influential.
The roles of The Undertaker and Austin will essentially be down to what they are willing to do.
Meanwhile, Cena would be available but his participation will be dictated to by insurance reasons as he also has filming commitments. He has previously hinted at being involved.
It’s more likely that he would do something fun, swift, and memorable as opposed to something that would carry great risk to him and his acting career.
Confirmation that filming for season two of Peacemaker will take place over the summer is welcome news to wrestling fans, as at least they know that won’t detract from his availability.
Austin did break his retirement to compete at WrestleMania 38 but has not participated in WWE since then. The Undertaker’s last match was at WrestleMania 36.
It is set to be a thrilling event, with The Rock teaming up with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the headline event of night one.
This will be the first time that The Rock has competed in Wrestlemania since 2013.
Reins and Rhodes will then lock horns once again on the second night as they bid to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
WrestleMania 40 will take place at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia – home to the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team – on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.
