When Zipper, an 8-year-old canine, was discovered walking the streets as a homeless dog, shelter staff knew they had something unique on their hands. She is a normal tiny dog: sweet, sociable and with a misshapen jaw, which gives her the sweetest and most unusual smile.
Employees at Huntsville Animal Services believe Zipper’s unique smile doesn’t seem to have any impact on her at all. He consumes food regularly, enjoys rewards, and does not seem aware of his unusual appearance compared to other dogs.
Volunteer Erin Webb of Huntsville Animal Services told The Dodo:
“We don’t understand jaw malformation. We don’t know what caused it. His teeth are far apart and he has an overbite.
Zipper most likely spent his entire life as an outdoor dog and did not receive proper care due to the condition he was in when he arrived at the shelter. He appears to have given birth more than once and suffers from flea allergy-related hair loss.
Although she may have been left behind because she was no longer needed, her new shelter family realizes how valuable she is and will work with her to find her a permanent home.
Although Zipper may not look exactly like other dogs, you can’t help but want to meet her once you see her distinctive smile.
She is a calm and kind female because she is an old dog. She seemed like she liked to experience new things. She likes to spend time with the other dogs and she got along well with Mr. Mike, our other older dog.
