Donald Trump’s senior adviser asserted that the Republican presidential candidate’s campaign would not fundamentally change if President Biden withdrew from the race for the White House.
Mr. Jason Miller, advisor to Mr. Donald Trump, has just commented on the scenario that US President Joe Biden will bow to pressure from the Democratic Party and stop his re-election efforts.
“Basically nothing has changed,” Mr. Miller told AFP on July 18, referring to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign.
“The reality is whether it’s Joe Biden or (Vice President) Kamala Harris or any other Democrat, they all share responsibility for the failure to destroy our economy and destroy our borders,” he added.
On July 18, the New York Times quoted several sources close to as saying that Mr. Biden had begun to “accept the idea” that he might not win the election in November and might have to withdraw from the race.
On the same day, the Washington Post (USA) reported that former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told some Democratic members of the House that she believed the president could soon be persuaded to leave the presidential race, while there were serious doubts about whether he could win in November.
This information was quoted by the Washington Post from Democratic Party officials familiar with Ms. Pelosi’s private discussions.
Ms Pelosi told them she thought Mr Biden was about to decide to drop his bid for re-election.
According to three Democratic officials, some party members are concerned that if the race continues, Mr. Biden will eventually have to hand the White House to Republican presidential candidate .
Pelosi’s aides declined to be interviewed about the former US House Speaker’s conversations with colleagues.
Pelosi spoke publicly about a week ago, saying that Biden needed to “make a decision” about whether to continue running, even though Biden has insisted he will still be in the race.
After Mr. Biden’s disappointing performance against Mr. Donald Trump on June 27, some members of the Democratic Party and some American media outlets called on him to stop his campaign, as they became increasingly concerned about his age and mental clarity.
