Two-headed cobra in southern China – Daily Mail screenshot
The snake was born on a farm in Yulin city, Guangxi province, southern China. The snake’s two heads can move independently of each other because they have two separate brains.
However, it has been 10 days since then and it still hasn’t eaten anything. The owner of the snake farm, a man surnamed Hoang, said that although the animal was still alive, he decided to move it to the Nanning zoo. Experts here will take care of it and the snake will probably live longer.
The length of each snake’s head accounts for about two-thirds of the body. Because they have 2 heads with 2 independent brains, they will sometimes move in 2 different directions.
The snake is still alive even though it has not eaten for 10 days, during which time it shed its skin once, said Mr. Ly Khac Can, a zoo employee.
Previously, science has recorded a number of cases of two-headed snakes, but most of them died prematurely. They don’t live long, only a few months, according to Daily Mail .
However, there was an exception when a two-headed snake once lived for up to 20 years. When mature, cobras in China are usually 1.2 to 1.5 m long.
