US Presidential Election 2024: Mr. Trump doubts President Biden is really running the country
Mr. Trump believes that White House officials are running all the country’s affairs, not President Biden.
Mr. Trump also said that President Biden was “disrespected” and that the US was in “serious trouble.”
“If we’re not careful, we’re going to find ourselves in the midst of World War III, a war like no other because of the weapons that will be used,” the former US president said.
Referring to the recent calls by many Democratic congressmen for President Biden to stop running, Mr. Trump believes that Mr. Biden will not withdraw.
“They covered for him, but it’s very difficult to do that now,” Trump said, referring to the Democratic Party and the media. “But I think he’s going to run again. Biden’s ego is so big, he’s not going to give up.”
According to the former US president, if Mr. Biden stops running, Vice President Kamala Harris will be the leading candidate of the Democratic Party.
This is Mr. Trump’s first interview since the CNN debate with Mr. Biden last month. During that event, Mr. Biden was often distracted and at times incoherent.
“It was a strange debate because after a few minutes, the answers he gave didn’t make any sense,” Trump said, adding that he deliberately didn’t look at Biden much as the president spoke. “I just glanced at him a couple times when he was giving some really bad answers. They weren’t even answers, they were just words put together and they didn’t make any sense.”
The White House and President Biden have not yet commented on Mr. Trump’s statements.
Biden’s performance in the debate with Trump on June 27 was considered a “disaster,” leaving many Democratic voters deeply concerned about the President’s ability to run for re-election. Some congressmen called for him to stop running, while many still supported him.
President Biden admitted that the debate with Trump was a “bad night”, but insisted that he was still mentally fit to continue his duties. He also ruled out the possibility of dropping out of the White House race.
