Despite many Democratic congressmen asking him to withdraw from the race, President Joe Biden continues his race for the White House. Yesterday, July 12, 2024, campaigning in Detroit, Michigan, the 81-year-old president affirmed that he is the candidate most likely to defeat Donald Trump.

In Michigan, a key state in the US presidential election, Mr. Biden denounced the ” 2025 plan’ ‘, a project to govern the US drafted by the far-right wing of the Republican Party, including many associates of Donald Trump. According to President Biden, this is an action plan to serve Donald Trump, and is ‘ ‘an unprecedented, broad attack against the US government and the basic freedoms of the American people”.
President Joe Biden condemned Mr. Trump as a ”danger to America’ ‘ and affirmed that ‘ ‘American voters want a president, not a dictator”.
Poll: Biden’s approval rating is slightly higher than Trump’s
According to most opinion polls, Biden’s approval rating is still slightly higher than Trump’s nationwide, and President Biden’s “terrible” debate with his opponent Donald Trump has had little effect on voters’ attitudes.
Correspondent Guillaume Naudin reports from Washington:
” It’s been two weeks since President Joe Biden had what he called a terrible night in his debate with Donald Trump. In those two weeks, pollsters have been working overtime to determine the outcome of the debate. For many pollsters, President Joe Biden clearly lost, and many Americans believe Joe Biden should withdraw due to his advanced age and frailty.
But the debate did little to change voters’ attitudes toward the Biden-Trump contest. In fact, according to the latest poll released by National Public Radio on Friday, July 12, 2024, Joe Biden leads Donald Trump nationally, but only within the margin of error.
In key states, the debate did little to help Joe Biden, but for the most part, the race remained close. The margin of error was also still within the margin of error.
America is so polarized that few voters are likely to change their minds. Moreover, there is no research to suggest that the Democrats’ nomination of a different candidate would have a decisive advantage. But the US press believes that the Democratic campaign is secretly polling voters about the possibility of Vice President Kamala Harris’s candidacy .
