Reuters (UK) reported that Mr. Biden’s focus on COVID-19 during his campaign on September 2, 2020, showed the Democratic candidate’s effort to question the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, tens of millions of American students are preparing for the new school year.
“If President Trump and his administration had handled the crisis early, American schools would have opened safely and on time,” Biden said after receiving an assessment from health experts in Wilmington, Delaware. Former Vice President Biden and Republican rival Trump often argue about which candidate can keep America safe.
President Trump, when visiting Kenosha on September 1, presented himself as a “law and order” leader in the face of recent racially-charged protests in the United States. Mr. Biden is scheduled to visit Kenosha on September 3.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos survey released on September 2, 78% of Americans surveyed said they were still concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic. In this survey, 47% of participants expressed support for Mr. Biden while 40% said they would vote for President Trump.
Reopening schools is a top priority for President Trump, who says it’s important to boost the economy and help parents stay in work while their children are in school.
In another development, the Biden campaign announced that the Democratic National Committee raised $364.5 million in August, setting a record for the most money raised in a single month of campaigning. The Trump campaign has not yet released fundraising figures for the month.
