A puppy that was cowardly buried alive by its owner survived the episode and is in the process of being adopted by an elderly couple in São Paulo.
According to the civil police, the man accused of burying the animal still alive on the banks of the Antônio Romano Schincariol Highway, between Boituva and Tatuí (SP), will be tried in the coming days by the São Paulo court system.
Identified as Carlos Alberto Pereira Gomes, he will be responsible for the crime of animal abuse, as he was identified as the executioner of the dog Menino Bento, the name given to the dog.

The 6-year-old puppy was taken in by a couple from Itapetininga (SP), who caught the moment of abandonment. They saw the man with a hoe in his hands and stopped to check the situation. He ignored the elderly people’s questions, put the hoe in the trunk and drove away.
Then the couple found a pile of dirt with a small part of the dog’s head showing. The animal was alive and in agony, according to the report to the police.
The couple dug the hole and rescued him immediately, taking him to the Municipal Pet Clinic in Itapetininga. Bento Menino, who is a German Dachshund (“sausage” dog) received care such as the application of serum, asepsis, sedation and dressing. Finally, he was taken to the elderly home, where he still lives today.
Unfortunately, he lost part of his ears and has a huge scar on his neck, but he is a healthy dog, with no major consequences. “We continue to root for him, a warrior, a beautiful angel who wins every day.
