Turtles with long necks like snakes, giant crabs that live on trees, snakes with horns all over their bodies, or “vampire” deer are real animals, but many people will mistakenly think they are products of graphic technology.
*Smooth long-necked turtle
The long-necked turtle is truly one of the strangest animals in the world, with a snake-like neck. This turtle’s neck is so long that it can stretch high or crawl far in front of its body. However, its oversized size makes it unable to retract its head into its shell and is vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Although they cannot defend themselves in the traditional way of their turtle relatives, long-necked turtles can secrete a terrible-smelling liquid when threatened. Like skunks, this strong-smelling substance will make the long-necked turtle’s enemies dark and unable to pursue them.
*Dumbo Octopus
Living at a depth of 7,000m below sea level, the Dumbo octopus is the deepest water animal ever discovered. It is the environmental conditions of complete lack of light and extremely strong water pressure that cause this octopus to strangely change shape.
*Bush Viper
The strange snake Bush Viper was found in the Takamanda reserve, Republic of Cameroon. Not only does it possess strange scales, this snake also has the ability to change its body color to blend in with the surrounding environment to avoid enemies or deceive prey. This snake usually does not attack humans or large animals, but the amount of venom secreted after each bite can be fatal to an adult.
*Giant coconut crabs live on trees
Possessing a rugged and fierce body, in reality, coconut crabs are gentle and shy animals. The giant body helps the coconut crab to be considered the largest terrestrial arthropod in the world with a total body weight of up to 4.1kg. If fully grown, coconut crabs can have a body length of up to 1 meter.
*Oarfish
Oarfish, also known as Ribbon fish, is one of the largest fish in the ocean. An adult Oarfish can grow up to 15.2m. Many cultures believe that Oarfish are mythical sea snakes. This animal is also extremely rare and difficult to find because it lives at a depth of 9,000m below the seabed.
*Vampire deer
“Vampire” deer are a small species of deer, about the same size as deer. However, this deer species lacks horns but possesses a pair of prominent tusks. The fangs of this animal grow up to ten centimeters long and protrude outward. Despite their scary appearance, in reality, “vampire” deer are gentle herbivores, with only one recorded case of biting a human.
