The crowd reacts to the possibility of “The Ultimate Heel vs. The Ultimate Babyface” match at WrestleMania 41.

Many speculated that The Rock’s next opponent would be Roman Reigns following WrestleMania 40. It made some sense, as almost everyone expected Dwayne Johnson to betray his cousin in order to win the championship, and Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. That made the matchup of all time, The Rock vs. Reigns, even better. However, Cody overcame Reigns to win the Universal Championship, so that did not happen.
In any event, the storylines leading up to and during the journey from WrestleMania 40 were considered some of the greatest in WWE history. Rhodes, the quintessential babyface, defeated the ultimate heel. Interesting as also, the Rock’s heel undoubtedly added additional flair to the combo. In fact, it enhanced the allure of the thrilling build to WrestleMania 40. Recent reports claim that The Rock would rather square off against The American Nightmare than with Roman Reigns.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter just revealed the possible Heel vs. Babyface fight for WrestleMania 40.
It has been communicated to us that this is undoubtedly a chronic problem. There’s no official word on when Rock will return to battle, but it’s been speculated that he would perform at Mania in 2019. Though it’s evident from everything that happened that Rhodes and him competing for the singles championship is currently the more important match, he had planned to go back and work with Reigns (via Ringside News).
Given that it would continue the storyline that WWE created for The American Nightmare and The Final Boss, it makes sense.
Fans’ Reactions To The Rock and Cody Rhodes’ Potential WrestleMania 41 MatchThe Rock and Cody Rhodes
Although fans fervently conjectured that The Rock would challenge Reigns for the Undisputed Championship belt at the impending WWE SummerSlam, marking the start of a fresh narrative involving The Tribal Chief and The Great One, this turned out to be an improbable scenario.
Following WrestleMania 40, The Rock made an announcement on RAW regarding his temporary sabbatical from the ring due to his prior commitment to multiple impending Hollywood ventures. Thus, it is possible that the People’s Champion will return for WrestleMania 41. However, he would rather work with Rhodes and his plot when he returns because it was such a huge smash.
He might work a match later this year, but that is not guaranteed as things are right now. He would rather collaborate with Rhodes on the Mania big event the following year, and from what we’ve seen, he usually gets his wish. That seemed to guarantee Rhodes at least a year-long reign as champion. Johnson would prefer it, we’ve been told, but it’s not a lock, according to WON (via Ringside News).
On X, fans responded to the news.
The Rock would want what’s best for business, as he is a current member of the TKO Board of Directors. The Great One joined The Bloodline as a heel, providing fans with a nostalgic delight, and the conflict between Rhodes and The Rock has worked like a charm. Thus, the most likely outcome would be the continuance of the drama.
