Last year, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott led the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns, finishing second in MVP voting and earning second-team All-Pro honors. Prescott led Dallas to a 12-5 record, the best in the NFC, alongside the San Francisco 49ers. However, on Tuesday, one ESPN media personality snubbed Prescott from his top five quarterbacks in the conference.
During an early morning segment on ESPN’s flagship show Get Up, former NFL passer-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky ranked his top five quarterbacks in the NFC. Notably excluded from the list was Dak Prescott, last year’s runner-up for the MVP.
Dan Orlovsky: Omits Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott From Top NFC Passers
Like most shows on ESPN in the year of Our Lord 2024, hot takes are a common theme among their morning shows. On Tuesday, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky received criticism from his co-hosts after revealing his shocking list of top quarterbacks in the NFC.
Dan Orlovsky named his top 5 quarterbacks in the NFC and Harry Douglas has one question:
“Where the hell is Dak Prescott, Dan?!”
Dan: “Who you putting Dak over?”
Jeff Darlington: “All of them?” pic.twitter.com/ONWm9g3ycO

“I would right now if you asked me to rank the NFC quarterbacks. It’s Matthew Stafford at one. I would probably put Jordan Love at two and Brock Purdy at three, but if you flip-flopped those guys for me, I would have no argument about that. I would probably put Kirk Cousins at four and Jared Goff at five,” said Orlovsky during Get Up on Tuesday. Orlovsky pointed at Love’s incredible late-season run last year in which he threw 18 touchdowns against one pick in the final eight games.
When pressed about his list and a potential deliberate omission of Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott, Orlovsky rebutted, saying, “Who are you putting Dak over? Are you going to put him over Jared Goff?”
Last season, Goff led the Detroit Lions to the NFC Championship for the first time since 1991. He threw for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 picks while owning an incredible 97.9 quarterback rating. Meanwhile, Orlovsky’s fourth-ranked NFC quarterback, Kirk Cousins, has posted a quarterback rating north of 103 in four of his last five seasons. Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles tear midway through the previous year, ending his 2023 campaign with 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five picks.
Prescott: Elite Level Production Last Year
After a stellar 2022 campaign that nearly ended in winning the AP Comeback Player of the Year Award, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott faltered in 2023. The Mississippi State product threw for only 23 touchdowns against an NFL-worst 15 interceptions. However, Prescott reverted back to his MVP-caliber form last season, throwing for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He owned a career-best 105.9 quarterback rating.
Prescott’s best stretch came in the middle of the season, with the franchise signal-caller throwing for 2,172 yards, 22 touchdowns, and two picks across seven games. Prescott finished the season with six games of at least three passing touchdowns. However, Prescott and company fell short in the postseason for the third straight year. Prescott threw two backbreaking interceptions in last season’s upset loss against the Green Bay Packers in the first round.
