Previously, when he was alive, “Taoist” Ba Luoi (who lives in An Hao commune) said that in the area where he lived, there were still many rattan cobras. They move like the wind and once they decide to eat someone, that person will have a hard time escaping.
One time, while Mr. Ba was walking from the foot to the top of Cam Mountain, he was suddenly chased from behind by a rattan cobra nearly ten meters long and weighing hundreds of kilograms, its head raised high and it kept swinging back and forth very ferociously. When it crawled to within ten meters, it suddenly opened its mouth and pecked straight at the old man’s head. Mr. Ba quickly dodged, avoiding the shot while using his shoulder blow to hit the snake’s spine and neck.

“I hit it in the head three times in a row and the last time the pole broke in half. I had just fallen to the ground in a ready position to fight when I suddenly saw the snake fall to the ground, its head motionless but its body still struggling. I had to add three more blows to his head before he could lie still and die,” he said.
After killing the snake, Mr. Ba asked people to go into the forest to cut the meat and bring it home to eat, but only a dozen people came because most were afraid of snake… revenge! Thinking that a person would only encounter a giant snake once in his life, he would have never expected that Mr. Ba Luoi would encounter this species again.
That was around 1960, where he lived, there was a group of hundreds of monkeys coming to pick corn from the people. One day, a cobra from somewhere came back to hunt monkeys. Some of them were eaten by the snakes, so the monkeys had to drag them to another place. After that, Mr. Ba’s dogs also took turns entering the belly of the “huge” snake.

That time, Mr. Ba Luoi went into the forest to pick medicine when suddenly a large rattan cobra appeared and attacked. As it rushed forward, he dodged to the side and used his machete to cut off the snake’s head. “Even though it’s not as big as the first one I took down, looking at it lying at my feet still gives me chills,” when he was still alive, Mr. Ba Luoi once told us.
“Huge” snake nest at the foot of the mountain
Mr. Pham Bao Tran – Deputy Director of Solar Power Project of Sao Mai Group – said that 2 weeks ago, while constructing a project at the foot of Cam Mountain, a group of workers suddenly discovered a nest of rattan cobras. raise your head in the cave. At that time, the truck driver immediately grabbed a few burlap bags and threw them in, then a group of 3 workers came to help capture them.
“They used two hands to grab the snake: one hand held the head, the other held the tail. Due to the characteristics of this snake, it can only grab the head and then stroke the whole body, it will not be able to move. This is an extremely poisonous rattan cobra, weighing about 60kg and 6-7m long each,” Mr. Tran said.
