Therefore, many people are willing to spend thousands of dollars to own lovely parrots in their family.who owns 4 parrots, said that her whole family loves raising animals, especially cats and dogs. However, when her newborn son suffered from asthma, she had to send all the cats and dogs she was raising to her parents for fear of affecting her son’s health.
However, as Linh’s son grew older, he realized that he loved animals just like his parents. Seeing this, the couple discussed what kind of animal to raise that would be suitable for the family’s care conditions.

“At first, I planned to take back the dogs and cats that I had left at my parents’ house because my child had completely recovered from asthma. However, by chance, my husband and I saw a neighbor raising two adorable parrots, so we started to learn about raising parrots as pets,” Linh said.
After researching, she realized that parrots are very intelligent, can sing along to music and imitate other very special sounds, and can even communicate with humans. So she decided to buy her first African grey parrot for 25 million VND.

With good speaking ability, being able to distinguish and quickly imitate human voices or other sounds such as phone rings, musical instruments or dog barking, the African grey parrot she bought has the characteristic of only being familiar with one owner.

“My husband and I bought this parrot with the intention of letting our son play with it, but it only sticks to my husband. If someone else comes close, it will peck painfully because they are used to being with only one owner. Seeing that our son was sad because the parrot did not play with him, my husband and I decided to find him another one with a friendlier personality,” said Linh.

Because she has a fondness for this parrot breed and loves her child, Ms. Linh decided to buy another Malucan Cockatoo for 48 million VND. This parrot was 6 months old when she bought it, had beautiful feathers, was very active and humorous.
Linh named this parrot Ngoc Trinh because it has white feathers and is very affectionate. (Photo: NVCC).
“Every time she wants to attract attention, she screams as loud as a jet plane, likes to bite and destroy things, and is extremely good at turning screws. Although she can’t speak well, she is very affectionate, cute, and loves to act spoiled and throw tantrums,” Linh described.

The more Linh and her husband raised and bonded with parrots, the more they loved these intelligent animals. Therefore, they continued to buy a Galad Cockatoo for 70 million VND and an Amazon Naped for 80 million VND.

“Galal Cockatoo is affectionate but fierce. It holds grudges for a long time and remembers things for a long time. If it hates someone, it will chase them away very quickly every time it meets them, but if it likes someone, it is very affectionate. In addition, it knows how to shake hands and act around, understands everything people say, and is very smart,” Linh said.

In addition, according to Ms. Linh, the Amazon Naped parrot is extremely obedient and intelligent; eats well, does not throw food away and does not cause trouble. In particular, this parrot sings well, learns to speak very quickly, can sing many songs and can hum in many different tones.

While raising the parrots, Linh also joined groups of parrot breeders in Vietnam to learn about their care. To have enough space for the parrots to observe and develop, Linh and her husband made a separate room on the balcony for the parrots.

Here, the parrots can both observe the family members and look out at the lush green nature. In the room, she added iron bars, swings, large guava branches and other necessary items. At the same time, she also hired people to take care of and clean the room by the hour.

“If in a family only the husband likes to raise pets while the wife doesn’t, or vice versa, it would be quite stressful, but in my family, both husband and wife like pets, focus on developing their work and setting goals, and set aside 10% of their monthly income to reward themselves by buying parrots. The whole family also feels happier because they have a common story about parrots,” Linh said.
