Just when you think you’ve seen it all, something shocking comes along!
In this case, it was more than a heartbreaking act of abandonment that took place before the Cleveland Fire Department in Joshua County, North Carolina. Upon arriving at work, firefighters discovered the entire dog family… and the zippered suitcase!
A horned mother with her five newborn babies struggled to regain her breath, until finally these giant-hearted babies gave in to her help!

Upon discovering the poor family of dogs in front of their station, the firefighters immediately sprang into action. They removed the dogs from the suitcase and gave them food and water .
The team wanted to make sure all the dogs were okay before calling in professionals. They then contacted Johnston County Animal Services in North Carolina.
The entire department was truly heartbroken to witness such a cruel act. They couldn’t contain their disappointment at seeing that someone would do this to such innocent creatures.

“It saddens our entire department greatly to have someone kill any animal. However, we are pleased that we were able to care for these dogs until the proper authorities arrived,” Cleveland Fire Chief Chris Elliott said, according to CBS 17.
The news was a real shock to the public. Several people reacted and expressed their concern and love for the abandoned dogs, as well as offering financial support.
“The love and concern for these animals was so greatly expressed and touched the hearts of so many people. We are overwhelmed by the kindness of people who stood up for these animals and offered support in their care,” JCAS wrote on Facebook.
Thanks to the timely response of the people who cared enough to save the lives of these small animals, the six dogs were safely transferred from one place to another.

After JCAS took over the case, Saviga Animal Adoption safely took care of the pups . Their kind team of rescuers agreed to provide a temporary home for mom and her babies, and the pups couldn’t be more excited about it!
Knowing that she was finally on the path to a brighter and better life, her true colors came to light, showing the world how truly beautiful and sweet they are.
Although they had to wait a little while to find their host families, now the whole family is enjoying their great stay !

“The mother and puppies are now with Saviga, where they will be cared for until such time as they can be adopted,” the rescue added.
After an appropriate amount of time, mom and puppies will search for a new home – hopefully, one filled with laughter, joy, and lots of exciting memories! But for now, the most important thing is that you’ll never have to go back to that suitcase again!
