Saskatchewan is in the news again for a world record set by one of its own! On July 18th, 2020, a calf in Saskatchewan set the world record for the longest horn span. The calf, named ‘Fancy’, belongs to the Lyttle family of Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.
Fancy’s horns measure an incredible 82.67 inches from tip to tip, making her the longest horned calf in the world. The Lyttle family is understandably proud of their record-breaking calf.
The Guinness World Records officially certified Fancy’s horns as the longest in the world. To qualify for the record, Fancy’s horns had to be measured by a qualified veterinarian. The veterinarian who measured Fancy’s horns was Dr. Paul Lussier, a veterinarian from Saskatchewan.
Fancy is a cross between a Hereford and a Charolais cow. She was born in May of 2020 and has been growing ever since. The Lyttle family has been taking care of Fancy since she was born, and they are thrilled to have a world record holder in their herd.
Fancy’s horns are an impressive sight to behold. They are both straight and curved, and they span an incredible 82.67 inches. The Lyttle family is sure to take good care of Fancy and her horns, and they plan to keep her in their herd for many years to come.
The Lyttle family is excited to share Fancy’s world record with the world. They hope that her record will inspire other farmers and ranchers to take care of their animals and strive for greatness.
