Fifty the Pit Bull was born to help others. His mother was pregnant when she was rescued by a kind family. Eventually, the family adopted Fifty from her littermates.
The playful dog was living a good life with his humans and another doggy sister, Izzy, when the unthinkable happened.
A patrol officer became alarmed when he saw Fifty and shot him in both right limbs. Fifty was a gentle and kind dog, so this was a classic case of Pit Bull discrimination.
However, this tragic event forever altered his life, and the poor dog had both of his right legs amputated as a result of the gunshot wounds.
Fifty was just learning to balance on his two remaining legs when his life turned upside down again. This time, Fifty and Izzy’s owners were forced to surrender them to the shelter after losing their home to the recession. After losing the only constant in his life, Fifty is back to square one.
During this dark and uncertain period of his life, Fifty discovered his true spark. She refused to be a victim of her circumstances and decided to rise again.
Initially it was kept standing with the help of the walls, only to falter again and again. She was soon able to walk and run normally again thanks to his unwavering dedication and perseverance!
After 9 months of rebuilding at the shelter, Fifty finally found his precious forever home.
He instantly fell in love with his new humans and siblings and vowed to be a good boy to them every day. He settled into his new life, which included many exciting adventures and cuddle sessions.
Fifty’s new parents often take in dogs in need, so the older boy jumped at the chance to be the best foster brother to other unfortunate animals like him.
Fifty is an incredible survivor who stands strong despite his disability and the many obstacles life has thrown at him.
Let’s celebrate this underdog’s story and show that pit bulls are much more than a “hated breed.”
Watch the video below to see how Fifty miraculously managed to thrive again with both of his left legs.
