One of the most consistent centers in recent years in the NBA has been Nikola Vucevic. The ‘5’ of the Chicago Bulls continues to perform at a very remarkable level despite already having 13 seasons in the world’s best league. Nevertheless, the Montenegrin is already thinking about his retirement, at least from the North American competition.
During Goran Dragic’s farewell game, where great figures from the past and present of basketball came together in an epic exhibition, the Bulls player opened up to the media. In the end, he knows he is 33 years old and that he doesn’t have much time left competing at the highest level.
“I am aware that I have been in the NBA for 13 years, that the end is not far away,” said Vucevic. “I don’t think I’ll play another 13 years, but I have two more years with Chicago, and I would like to play two more after that (until 2028). I believe I can play at a high level during that time, and then I’ll see.”
Two more guaranteed seasons for Vucevic
From the remaining contract he has with the Chicago Bulls, Nikola Vucevic will receive over 40 million dollars over the two remaining years. The center has frequently been in rumors about a possible trade that could give a new direction to the Illinois franchise, which has been greatly disrupted by injuries. However, the Montenegrin player remains in Chicago, and this season he hopes to return to a great level.
