These mutant chickens surprise many people with their unique abilities.
One of the most famous mutant chickens is the androgynous chickens. They are born half as roosters and half as hens, extremely different.
More importantly, these half-and-half chickens have clearly distinct appearances. If you just look at one side, many people will think this is a completely normal chicken, nothing unusual or noteworthy.
However, when viewed from the front, these chickens will make people’s eyes widen in surprise because of their very clear half-cock, half-hen appearance.
Because they are hermaphrodite chickens, these chickens are often infertile and cannot maintain the breed. However, there are also cases where the genes of the dominant sex will rise to the top and perform mating according to the dominant sex.
The next mutant form of chicken that most people know about is the four-legged chicken. As we know, normal chickens only have two legs. If the mutant grows four legs, the two extra legs will have no effect.
In Vietnam, several cases of four-legged mutant chickens have been recorded in Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Lao Cai… These chickens are also known as goblin chickens or monster chickens.
Mutant chickens without floaters are also one of the mutations in chickens. The feather is the part that accumulates the most fat and cholesterol in the animal’s body. When this part is missing, the chicken’s tail often hangs down and the coat often lacks smoothness due to lack of grooming.
A rooster laying eggs would probably just be a myth if it weren’t for the recorded case of a rooster in Dien Chau, Nghe An with a “manly” appearance able to lay eggs. Although it only lays a tiny egg, it is actually a chicken egg.
In the photo is the strangest mutant chicken in Vietnam, it was born with 4 legs, 3 wings, 2 fishing buoy holes, discovered by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet in Gia Nghia, Dak Nong in the flock of chickens he raises. Although the mutation has many redundant parts, fortunately it can still develop normally because it is not affected much.
Featherless chickens are one of the mutant chicken breeds with the most horrifying appearance. They look like chickens that have been stripped of their feathers and cooked but can still revive, walk and live as normal.
Not only are there mutations in innate sex, there are also cases where chickens have mutations during growth. In the photo is a chicken named Honor, living in rural England. It surprised its owner and people around the area when it suddenly changed gender from a hen to a rooster and crowed loudly.
