Indian bird of paradise: Symbol of luck and prosperity

An Indian nature photographer has captured the amazing Indian paradise flycatcher in his extraordinary close-up series. [The photos] show the breathtaking glory of this extraordinary-looking bird through the lens of a professional photographer.

Hailing from Cuttack, Odisha, award-winning photographer Gyana Mohanty is now based in Navi Mumbai, India. He has a passion for wildlife photography, especially birds.

“The Indian paradise flycatcher is one of my favorite birds, and I want to photograph them every day,” Mohanty, 39, told The Epoch Times.

“In Raigad there is a village called Kalhe with small water bodies {ponds, lakes} where you can easily spot these beautiful birds,” he explains. One winter morning, I took my Nikon camera out to photograph these beautiful birds as the sun rose, when they are most active, and luckily I saw two males in the sky. same day.”

Male flycatchers dive into the water to bathe “in broad daylight,” Mr. Mohanty said in amazement. With camera in hand, he captured a series of magical moments as the little birds perched, swooped, and flew. Their blue-black crests and long, ribbon-like tails are on full display.
