#JayDay: Jay-Z just used a bunch of solid gold Rolex Daytonas as VIP invitations
We’ve all heard of a wrist flex, but what about an invitation flex … is that a thing?

Well, if it wasn’t before, it is now, because hip hop heavyweight, music producer and entrepreneur Jay-Z has gone and sent out Rolex’s eponymous Daytona as VIP invitation gifts to his inaugural Shawn Carter Foundation Gala.

In case you were wondering, the Rolex Daytona in question was the solid 18k Everose gold example with the black and pink dial, ref. 116505.
Just to clarify … this pink gold Daytona has a recommended retail price in Australia of $49,750. What on earth!

Although the exact number of Daytonas distributed is unknown, at least two were given away, as evidenced by the Instagram stories of Meek Mill and Swizz Beatz, who both shared photos of their “boujee” gifts from Hov (Jay-Z).
Mr. Mill wrote in his tale, “Hov sent these as VIP passes, SMH this rich shit getting out of control lol,” and the artist responded, “I’m not joking lol.” He must have been so happy that he forgot which way to put the Daytona in the box.

Mr. Beatz expressed his agreement with Mill’s thoughts on Instagram, writing: “Levels. With the invite game, which included a Daytona Rolex and a bottle of Ace, Hov is at a whole other level.

The “Ace” Beatz speaks about is actually a bottle of Armand de Brignac, a champagne producer owned by Jay-Z that is referred to as the “Ace of Spades” among the glitterati community.
Furthermore, the Shawn Carter Foundation Gala, a charity event that Jay-Z hosted at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, was a huge success, raising over $6 million for a worthy cause. In order to assist low-income children with their education, Jay-Z and his mother, Gloria Carter, founded the charity in 2003.
Returning to the wrist-worn invitations, this writer finds herself asking, “How on earth do I get invited to the next event?” It’s an aggressive move regardless of perspective.
