When Malena was found, her condition was dire. Weak and battling illness, she was on the brink of survival. There was no time to waste on grooming; our immediate concern was her health. Her coat was infested with fleas, a common issue for dogs left un-groomed for extended periods. Dogs with this type of fur, when neglected, are easily overtaken by parasites like fleas and ticks, leaving them uncomfortable and at risk for infection. The itching and irritation Malena suffered was heartbreaking to witness. Here’s her full story—a journey of resilience and kindness.
We first heard about Malena through a social media post shared by a friend. A foster home caring for 70 dogs had found her but didn’t have the resources for her medical care. When Bane saw the post, he reached out immediately, telling them, “We’ll cover the vet bills; just get her there as soon as possible.” Thankfully, the foster agreed, and Malena was taken to the vet just in time.
The medical team acted quickly, performing urgent operations on her eye and internal organs that saved her life. After her recovery, she was ready for grooming, a fresh start, and a chance at a new life. Soon, she will even be ready for adoption once she heals from heartworm disease. Her name is Malena, and her transformation is inspiring.

As a child, I dreamed of rescuing animals, but I often felt helpless knowing I couldn’t save them all. In my teenage years, I worried about the financial and organizational challenges of helping animals on a large scale. I thought becoming a veterinarian was the best way to make my dreams come true, but I soon realized the emotional toll was overwhelming for me. So, I shifted my focus to dog grooming, finding a way to contribute to the welfare of animals through compassion and care.
At first, I provided free grooming for abandoned dogs, and over time, I found ways to help them not just cosmetically but with their overall health and comfort. Through donations and support from people like you, Bane and I have been able to extend our efforts. Together, we’re making a difference, one grooming session at a time. The child in me is grateful every day for this opportunity.
