On the latest episode of the “Up & Adams Show,” host Kay Adams told San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle about her conversation with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
She asked Rodgers about his upcoming Monday Night Football game against the 49ers. Knowing that the A-Rod was a huge fan of the Niners while growing up, she expected an emotional answer. However, the QB downplayed the expectations, saying:
“It’d be a real good match-up for us Monday Night. It’ll be fun.”
She asked Kittle,
“Given what you know of him, that’s BS, right?”
“I think what Aaron is doing is great PR. He’s downplaying things to limit the storylines, so the Jets can focus on playing football and beating the 49ers,” Kittle replied [3:29 onwards].
Moreover, the Niners tight end laid out a plan to use it against A-Rod. Kittle asked Kay to “throw out some crazy headlines” so that it would throw Rodgers and the Jets off their game on Monday Night Football.
The Niners team will be at their best when they face the Jets, especially after the Brandon Aiyuk contract extension saga came to an end. Aiyuk agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $120 million, with $76 million guaranteed.
George Kittle reveals the advice he gave to Brandon Aiyuk
George Kittle said he learned a lot when he was going through his own extension conversation with the top brass prior to the 2020 season. In the end, he managed to snag a five-year, $75 million deal with $40 million guaranteed. During an interview, he shared the advice he gave to Brandon Aiyuk.
“I told him, ‘It’s really going to s**k, you’re going to hate everything about it, but once it’s done, it’s like braces, and you’ll never remember the entire process of having them.’ I don’t remember braces at all,” Kittle told NBC Sports Bay Area.
What remains to be seen is if the 2023 Pro Bowler can match his 2023 performance, where he recorded 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Niners and the Jets will face each other on September 9 at Levi’s Stadium.
