Right now, the Dallas Cowboys front office is working hard to settle the contract issues of star players Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. It’s only right that the Cowboys do whatever they can to get both deals done as soon as possible as these two studs will play undeniably crucial roles in the team’s objectives this season.
NFL analyst Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report agrees that Prescott and Lamb’s respective extensions are of utmost importance. The writer argues, however, that Micah Parson’s deal has to take precedence over everything else.
Dallas Cowboys Urged to Extend Micah Parsons’ Deal Now
More than a few folks out there will agree with the notion that Parsons has established himself as the most important player on the roster. The front office has to recognize this, and Fowler believes that it would be in their best interest to get a deal done with Parsons now:
“An electric blend of speed and explosiveness, it would be wise of Dallas GM Jerry Jones to present Parsons with a blank check whenever the two-time All Pro seems fit.
“Prescott and Lamb enter 2024 on the last year of their current deal compared to Parsons (UFA following next year), but locking one of the more unique impact defenders in the game may sit atop Jones’ to-do list,” Fowler wrote.
It goes without saying, however, that paying all three stars will deliver a considerable blow not only to the Cowboys’ salary cap figure but to their financial flexibility over the next several years.
At this point, it doesn’t seem like the front office will be forced to pick and choose among the three. However, settling these crucial matters now would probably be less complicated than choosing to wait it out.
