Being unhappy with his contract situation at Cowboys, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb dropped a hint at joining his Sooners teammate Marquise Brown at Chiefs.

Out of nowhere, CeeDee Lamb has dropped a massive hint at leaving the Dallas Cowboys. He might reunite with a former Oklahoma Sooners teammate.
Lamb’s recent social media activity suggests that his patience is close to giving up amidst his stalled contract talks with the Cowboys front office. Even though Jerry Jones prioritized the all-pro wideout over their quarterback, Lamb remains without an extension.
In the meantime, a slight change in the 25-year-old’s X (previously known as Twitter) account created a massive ruckus on social media. Lamb posted a picture from his Oklahoma days, which was nothing out of the ordinary, but the player with him in the picture drew in the commotion.
It was Lamb’s former partner in crime, Marquise Brown/Hollywood Brown from the Sooners, in the picture beside him. Brown earlier this year signed with the reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs after spending last season with the Baltimore Ravens.
The situation took an interesting turn when fans hopped into Brown’s X account and saw the 27-year-old added cover photo in which he was with CeeDee Lamb. Are they relieving their old days, or is there some hidden meaning behind changing the cover photo at the same time?

Regardless, Lamb skipped the entire off-season OTAs and the minicamp and remained absent from the first 2 weeks of training camp at Oxnard. Jones is on the cusp of losing his quarterback next season if they don’t agree on a deal with him, and if they also lose Lamb, then 80% of the Cowboys’ output in the last 3 years would no longer be with the team.
Can the Kansas City Chiefs acquire CeeDee Lamb from the Cowboys?
This will be tricky, and if Brett Veach’s CV is anything to go by, he likes to be frugal with his budget. Besides quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year deal, the only other time the Chiefs GM spent big bucks was on all-pro defensive end Chris Jones.
The reason Lamb and the Cowboys can’t agree on a new deal is that he wants more than $32 million, as per long-time Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill Jr. Anything less than the asking number is a direct no from the 3-time pro bowler’s representatives.
Ceedee was never taking 25 last year . Stop this rhetoric.
Ceedee was always waiting on Jefferson and Jefferson turned down way more that last year. Ceedee knew https://t.co/LIP37SezRw— Clarence Hill Jr (@clarencehilljr) July 2, 2024
So, if the Cowboys, which is the richest sports franchise in the world, can’t pay their players, then how can the Chiefs do it? As per Over The Cap, the Chiefs have $15.4 million in cap space after going through a reshuffle in Mahomes’ contract and a new deal for all-pro tight end Travis Kelce. They cut Marquez Valdes-Scantling because of the low cap.
The only solution is trade, and the likely scenario will be a player of similar value and a few picks. FanDuel proposed second-year receiver Rashee Rice along with a total of two first-round picks in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Now the question arises: why would the Chiefs part ways with their second-best catcher on the team who earns $1.3 million for a player who would demand $32 million at the very least?

While the trade may seem farfetched, stranger things have happened in the NFL before.
Lamb and Brown have been well acquainted since their time in Oklahoma from 2017 to 2018. Their combination recorded more than 4350 yards and 35 touchdowns from 243 receptions. They played in the 2018 Orange Bowl but lost to Alabama.
