During the recent episode of his podcast, Cam Newton claimed the Cowboys are no longer the ‘America’s Team’ because they haven’t won anything since the ’90s.

If anyone looks into the history of the NFL, they would surely come across the Dallas Cowboys. The Star Helmets rose to fame almost 50 years ago when the legendary Tom Landry led the team. Its brand value and fanbase are arguably one of the biggest in sports hence they were rewarded with the term ‘America’s Team.’ However, former NFL quarterback Cam Newton claimed that the Cowboys are no longer what they used to be.
The Cowboys are still profitable but without any silverware to show in the past three decades. As a result, many fans and analysts alike are against calling them the ‘America’s Team.’
Cam Newton is one of them and during the recent episode of the 4th & 1 podcast, the 35-year-old argued about which team deserves the title more.
They don’t seem to know how to win, and [then] everybody points fingers at Dak [Prescott]. That is not America’s team no-more ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know who had to say that. The Kansas City Chiefs is America’s team by way of who’s dating who, and who’s winning what. They are America’s team.Cam Newton said.
The Dallas Cowboys appeared in the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. However, they haven’t had a deep post-season run since winning the Super Bowl back in 1995. So it’s frustrating for a Cowboys fan in that regard. In reality, a fan born in the 2000s has never seen the 5-time Champions play in a Super Bowl.
Despite the underwhelming success of the Cowboys, Cam Newton picked Dak Prescott as one of the quarterbacks in the NFL
As Newton pointed out, whenever the Cowboys lost a game Prescott shouldered most of the burden. Even though it’s a team effort, analysts like Stephen A. Smith, and Nick Wright are quick to point the finger at the 30-year-old.
Prescott will play the final year of the Cowboys’ contract and basically, owner Jerry Jones wants the 3 time Pro Bowler to prove his worth before bagging a big payday. According to Adam Schefter, Prescott is in line to earn a $60 million-a-year deal and Newton argued that he deserves it even more than players like Trevor Lawrence or Kirk Cousins.
He is worth it. I am looking at the list.Cam Newton said.
Cousins despite missing out on the 2023 season with a torn ACL, secured a $180 million deal with $50 million as a signing bonus and $100 million guaranteed when he joined the Atlanta Falcons. Lawrence became one of the highest-paid players after the Jaguars agreed to a $55 million-a-year deal for 5 years.
I would prefer Dak Prescott over Kirk Cousins. I would prefer Dak over Jalen Hurts… Justin Herbert? Dak.... Joe Burrow? I am taking Joe Burrow. Trevor Lawrence? I am taking Dak.Newton said.

Prescott raised a lot of eyebrows during his recent vacation in Mexico. Fans saw him wearing a walking boot on his sore right ankle, which got hurt back in 2021. Fortunately, NFL.com Ian Rapoport reported that he no longer needs it and is ready to join the Cowboys for offseason training camp.
