A dog whose nose was blown off when fireworks were tied in its mouth has made an impressive recovery after veterinarians reconstructed its jaw.
Braveheart, the lovable dog featured in the picture, underwent surgery to reconstruct his jaw after it was severely injured by fireworks in Sonora, Mexico.
The puppy, seen in the picture while recovering after surgery, had to undergo four operations to reconstruct his face in Mexico. Ms. Lystra shared that the damage to Braveheart was so severe that his jaw was shattered and a prosthesis had to be made. “I had never done rescue work in that area before, so I wasn’t sure about the veterinarians there, but a friend told me about Dr. Briseño, who thought he could help. “A new jaw was made for Braveheart, and he went through four surgeries to reconstruct his jaw.”
Braveheart, shown in the picture, currently resides at the Saving Huey Foundation in California, where he enjoys spending time playing with his fellow rescued canine companions.
Braveheart was discovered earlier this year, but it still remains unclear as to what exactly caused the damage.
Braveheart, who was by the sides of the road after the surgery, had to remain in Mexico for a couple of months until he was well enough to travel to the animal sanctuary.
Not much is known about Braveheart’s past, as he was discovered by an animal charity after being injured. The photo shows him recovering from surgery with a cone around his neck.
