Ancelotti slams Barcelona for their ‘ungentlemanly’ celebration after their dominant win against Real Madrid.Khanhoi

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has voiced his frustration over what he considered unsportsmanlike celebrations from Barcelona’s bench following their 4-0 victory in the latest El Clasico.

The heated encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu saw Real Madrid’s impressive 42-game unbeaten streak in La Liga come to an end. Despite narrowly missing key chances in the first half and having a Kylian Mbappé goal ruled offside, Madrid’s defense faltered, allowing Barcelona to capitalize and secure a decisive win.

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski struck twice early in the second half, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha further extending the lead. Raphinha’s goal in the 84th minute sealed the 4-0 scoreline.

Emotions ran high on the sidelines as Barcelona’s bench celebrated the final goal, in a way that Ancelotti and his staff found disrespectful. Ancelotti was visibly frustrated, approaching Barcelona manager Hansi Flick to express his discontent with what he perceived as inappropriate behavior from one of Flick’s assistants.

Ancelotti clarified in his post-match comments that his issue wasn’t with Flick himself, but with an assistant who celebrated near the Real Madrid technical area. “I had an issue with the assistant, not with Flick,” he explained, describing the actions as “ungentlemanly” and emphasizing that he raised his concerns with Flick calmly. Flick reportedly agreed with Ancelotti’s perspective on maintaining respect.

This defeat leaves Real Madrid six points behind Barcelona in La Liga, further intensifying an already fierce rivalry. Ancelotti, who has led Madrid to significant achievements, including La Liga and Champions League titles, was understandably disappointed by the decisive home loss.

The game exposed weaknesses in Madrid’s defense that Ancelotti may address as they continue their title pursuit. This El Clasico clash has added a new dimension to the rivalry, underscoring the high-stakes atmosphere and the importance of respect and sportsmanship.

For Real Madrid, the loss is a reminder of the challenges in their quest to reclaim the La Liga title, while Barcelona has gained a valuable psychological advantage in the rivalry.
