This cute lion is Jupiter, a much-loved animal in Colombia, the country where he still lives. The feline became famous three years ago, while he lived at the Villa Lorena Refuge (Cali): his rescuer and caretaker, Ana Julia Torres, rescued him from a circus where he was constantly mistreated. He had no claws and was so suspicious of humans that he ended up developing a phobia of contact with them, which changed radically when he arrived in Ana Julia’s care.

The woman undoubtedly changed Jupiter’s life: he went from a defensive reaction to being the sweetest and most tender lion of all, he even demonstrated his enormous ability to hug and kiss his beloved rescue team.

However, authorities decided that Cali was not the right place for Jupiter, so they took him to Los Caimanes Zoo in Montería, Córdoba, so he could be calmer and surrounded by other animals.

Unfortunately, the solution ended up being worse than the problem itself. After almost two years under the zoo’s care, Jupiter lost everything he had progressed to and his health began to deteriorate little by little: now he has been in critical condition for more than a month, eats little, has significant damage to his kidneys and liver, in addition to galloping anemia. According to Ana Julia, who visited him several times, Jupiter is dying, so she managed to convince the government to take him back to his sanctuary.

However, recently the lion demonstrated with small gestures and movements that he still wants to live. Ana Julia visited him in his huge cat nursery and he welcomed her with a hug and some kisses.

” I’m happy, after 11 months I received his kisses again, he kissed me five times. I found him standing, divine; I started to caress him and pamper him, I told him I loved him”.

Despite the lion’s efforts, Jupiter’s diagnosis is not good; He is suffering from terminal liver cancer and is close to leaving this world, after 20 years of care at Villa Lorena, under the love and care of Ana Julia.

His story became known in the country and several ‘candles’ and prayer chains for the feline were organized.

Despite the little time left for this king of the jungle; His share of love for his savior has not ended and shows us that, despite all the suffering that humans cause him, he still manages to love good people.
