The pup, named Blue, was relieved and glad to be taken off the streets. The shelter staff rejoiced when they found that Blue had a microchip.
After they rang the number registered to the microchip, a woman answered. The staffers were stunned after they found out that Blue’s home was in Florida.
According to the woman, Blue went missing a week ago. She didn’t know how the one-year-old pup found her way to Michigan.
The shelter staff members were ecstatic when they heard that the woman wanted Blue back. They immediately started looking for a volunteer who could drive Blue home.
The shelter posted a plea on social media platforms. Deeply moved by Blue’s story, hundreds of people offered to reunite Blue with her owner.
Taking The Trip To Florida
Stephanie James was the one who was chosen to drive the lost pup across the country.
After she took a vacation, James and her brother went to the shelter to pick Blue up. The moment James saw the sweet dog for the first time, she fell in love with her.
The three of them hopped in James’ Chevy Blazer, and headed to the Sunshine State.
Blue got attached to them right away. James melted when the adorable pooch rested her head on her shoulder during their ride. The pup was very affectionate. She showered them with love and gave them adorable kisses.
After traveling for 1,300 miles, they finally arrived at the owner’s home and the owner’s mom opened the door and welcomed them in. Blue’s 22-year-old owner wasn’t at home.
Blue instantly recognized her home and she was eagerly waiting to see the beloved face of her owner. As soon as she arrived home, the delightful pooch started jumping with joy.
They all talked about Blue and tried to figure out how she ended up in Michigan. Blue’s owner and her mom said that they left the pup in a back yard kennel when they weren’t home.
“She’s a very wiggly, very smart dog. They think she made her way near the freeway and someone picked her up,” James said.
The Shocking News
After talking for a while, James was shocked when Blue’s owner told her that they should take Blue back to the Michigan shelter.
“She said to me, ‘With me going to school full-time and working full-time, I can’t commit to the dog. You seem like good people. Blue really likes you. You’ve taken good care of her,’” James said.
James was speechless. She wished that the owner had told this to the shelter staffers as soon as they contacted her.
James and her brother took Blue to the car. While they were driving away, Blue couldn’t stop looking back at her home.
James was brokenhearted to see the sad and confused expression on the doggo’s face.
“We said, ‘It’s gonna be OK, Blue, we love you.’”
She kept telling herself that Blue would be much happier somewhere else. Returning her to Michigan was the best thing for the pup.
James wished she could give Blue the home she deserved, but she already had four rescue dogs at home. She was sure that Blue wouldn’t wait long to find a family.
While they were on their way back, James called the Humane Society and told them that the owner no longer wanted Blue.
Shortly afterward, the shelter staff posted an update on social media and informed Blue’s well-wishers about her situation. As soon as they found out that the lovely pup got rejected by her mom, they were heartbroken.
Blue Finds A Perfect Forever Home
Soon, the shelter was swamped with adoption applications. Many people opened their hearts and hoped to be Blue’s forever parents and adore her just as much as she deserved.
Two hours after James and her brother returned Blue to the shelter, Robert Allison, Blue’s new dad, rushed over to see her.
His beloved Pit Bull crossed the rainbow bridge and he was looking for another pup. As soon as he heard Blue’s story, he filled out an adoption application. He was over the moon when the shelter invited him to come and meet Blue.
Allison took a lunch break and made his way to the shelter. He couldn’t wait to meet her. When Blue saw him, she ran to his arms, and their connection was instant.
“I walked up and she jumped on me. She definitely took right to me,” Allison said.
He took Blue to her forever home the same day she found herself at the shelter again.
Blue was overjoyed to move into her new home and she settled in right away. She loves her family deeply and covers them in kisses every day.
James visited the lovely pooch and they were both thrilled to see each other again.
We couldn’t be happier that Blue found the immense love and affection that she always deserved. Many thanks to James, Humane Society of Midland County, and to all the people who helped Blue get her happy ending.
