About living on his “Promise Land” ranch, the rapper tells PEOPLE, “You just wish many others get to just try this.”

The title of Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s new album, Too Good to Be True, is appropriate given how Ross now views his life.

Not only is the 47-year-old rap mogul and largest boss carrying on his decades-long reign of control with this new joint project, but he’s also relaxing during his well-earned vacation time.

Taking care of the animals on his expansive 235-acre estate in Fayetteville, Georgia, which he refers to as the “Promise Land,” Ross has made news in recent years for a variety of antics on the land, including felling trees and feeding his bison.

However, it has imparted onto him an important lesson and enhanced his connection to nature.

Ross replies to PEOPLE, “F— yeah,” when they inquire whether he thinks of himself as a farmer.

You simply hope that a lot more people could give this a try. For once, give this a try. For once, give this a try. About living on the ranch, he adds, “Just unwind and let everything go.” Put down your f—ing phone and take a seat to unwind. Let’s give some carrots to the cows. Talk to the horses, please. For four hours, let’s go fishing. Alright, let’s get started. Let’s carry it out.”

Living away from the studio and his several business ventures, as Ross adds, is just “a different vibe” on the estate, where he acknowledges that he can be a “cowboy at times.” “And maybe that’s how I recharge my battery and when I get around music, I’m ready to go, because I do a little bit of it all,” he continues.

Aside from caring for his horses and cows, Ross’s newest pastime is taking boat cruises. The hobby’s idea is also rather straightforward. He refers to it as “salt life.”

“At the water’s edge, within boats, and inside boats themselves. I’m going for test drives on several boats. Trial runs. Yes, distinct vibes,” he remarks.

When asked which boat he prefers, Ross replies with a grin, “I think my favorite boat is the new one I just bought.”

Given that Ross’s new record is creating waves of its own, it seems logical that he would be turning to his farm and the ocean for comfort. With the album, he reunites with longtime partner and Maybach Music Group signee Mill for a sound he says “gelled together but the balance is there.”

According to Ross, Too Good to Be True is “a beautiful moment in hip-hop,” and it includes lyrics from Future, French Montana, and even Shaquille O’Neal, expressly for a remix of their song “SHAQ & KOBE.”
