According to Defense Express, Temel Kotila, the Defense Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Turkish Aerospace Industries [TAI], and Defense Executive Director of Turkish
Aerospace Industries [TAI], Turkey is considering creating a naval version of the promising heavy-duty helicopter T929 ATAK 2 to deploy the Turkish multi-purpose universal landing craft TCG Anadolu.
Temel Kotil responded, “We are now exploring a naval version of ATAK 2 when asked by Defense Turk if there would be a naval version of Atak and Gökbey for TCG Anadolu.”
The new weapon will eventually replace the T129 ATAK light helicopters, a licensed version of the Italian AW129 from Leonardo, and considerably increase the capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces. It will also serve as the primary attack force for the Turkish Air Force.
