LeBron James opened up on leading the Lakers to a massive comeback win against the Clippers, the biggest comeback of his career.
LeBron James dropped 34 points in an incredible Lakers win, as they overcame a 21-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Clippers 116-112.
They entered the fourth quarter with a 19-point deficit, as this win was the biggest comeback of LeBron’s career and the biggest Lakers comeback since 2003. The star man discussed the incredible win after the game.
“Keep the main thing the main thing. Keep executing. The game is not ever over until it’s doub;e zeroes, so we kept fighting and getting defensive stops, made some shots.”
LeBron outscored the Clippers on his own in the fourth quarter, scoring 19 points with five three-pointers as the Clippers scored 16 as a team.
This was a damning loss for the title-contenders Clippers and is another sign for the Lakers that they can make a late-season run like they did last year.
James is inching closer to arguably the greatest-scoring achievement in NBA history, as he is just 43 points away from having scored 40,000 regular-season points in NBA history.
He has already crossed this mark when playoff points are put into consideration, with James also in line to earn the global record for most points scored in a professional career.
LeBron James Proving To The Lakers He’s Still Top 10 In The World
There has been mild speculation on LeBron’s future in the NBA as he edges closer to possibly being a free agent this summer.
While reports suggest James is angling for a multi-year extension, nothing is set in stone until contracts are signed. The major factor behind LeBron’s next career move is whether his son declared for the 2024 NBA Draft or not. Then, the Lakers might have to go above and beyond to ensure they can keep LeBron on the roster.
If the Lakers had any doubts about handing LeBron a multi-year contract when he’s already 39 years old, games like tonight will easily change their mind.
James is averaging 25.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 7.9 assists this season, numbers completely unseen for a player at James’ age and with his experience. He really could continue playing like a top-10 player in the NBA for more seasons.
This is LeBron’s worst production season since he joined the Lakers, and his impact on winning has fluctuated from game to game. But there’s no doubt that he can compete with the best of them, just that he can’t do it at the same level he did in 2018.
Hopefully, we don’t see any major injuries curtail the twilight of LeBron’s prime, as he genuinely looks to be unstoppable on the court.
