With the NBA’s February 8th trade deadline quickly approaching, your Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be one of the more active teams on the market. They know they haven’t lived up to expectations, so the front office will do their best to fix some issues.

The Lakers seem to be focusing on wing depth, and adding more speed in the backcourt. It’s why they’ve been connected to players like Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks and Dorian Finney-Smith of the Brooklyn Nets.

However, we can add one more name to the mix for Los Angeles. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers have considered looking into a deal for forward Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets.

“Another player with similar size as Finney-Smith and an even more polished offensive game is Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets, but it is unlikely L.A. would pursue a trade for him, sources told ESPN, because he would not retain his Bird rights, meaning the Lakers would be getting Bridges for only the rest of 2023-24 because he would likely find more lucrative offers in free agency than L.A. would be able to offer,” McMenamin writes.

Despite the interest, a deal is unlikely at this point. He will be a free agent at the end of the season, and the Lakers would likely let him leave due to the type of deals he would receive.

In addition, his off-the-court issues have tarnished his reputation. He was arrested for felony domestic violence and received three years of probation for the charges.

Clubs may be hesitant to go after Bridges, and the Lakers surely shouldn’t want to be involved despite his talent (although that didn’t stop them from signing Jaxson Hayes this summer). The team will look elsewhere for help, and hopefully, the front office will put this team into a solid position to find success the rest of the way.
