Daffodil the Chihuahua was abandoned in a cardboard box after her owner discovered she was born without front legs. For days, she lay crying in that soggy box on the streets of San Francisco. People saw her as an “adorable little dog,” picked her up, but when they noticed her birth defect, they made a disgusted face and returned her, writes ilovemydogsomuch.
When a young man discovered Daffodil’s plight, he immediately picked her up and took her to the local SPCA shelter. Initially, workers doubted the puppy’s survival. But within days, Daffodil blossomed into a loving and playful pup. The sweet dog had no idea she was disabled, she just wanted to be loved by those who cared for her!
The workers were moved by Daffodil’s spirit and vowed to look beyond his deformities and give him a fair chance at life. They even used a special mold to take the puppy’s measurements and create a custom wheelchair for her.
In this video, we see Daffodil’s memorable first ride in his little wheelchair. He stumbled and fell, but didn’t look back once he stood up again. What a champion! The SPCA has also reported that Olivia, one of Daffodil’s caregivers, has decided to be the lively dog’s foster mother forever. Daffodil is enjoying her days as her mom’s princess!
