While strolling through the streets of Lanus, Argentina, two boys encountered a distressing sight – a dog completely immersed in tar. Whether the dog accidentally stumbled into the tar or was intentionally placed there to suffer remains uncertain. What was unmistakable was the urgent requirement for assistance to ensure the canine’s survival.
The canine who could barely move was taken to Zoonosis Lanus shelter, where the volunteers started a 5-hour-long cleaning process to remove all the tar. “We bought a lot of things, we watched tutorials on the Internet, and we were trying and checking all the products and their results,” explained volunteer Myriam Ortellado. “Firstly, it was impossible to clean it, and then we started using oil and step by step it worked, but we used five liters of oil.”
The doggie was given the name Petro, which means petroleum in Spanish. At first the vets were worried about intoxication, as there was tar in the dog’s ears, nostrils and even intestines. However, Petro seems to be getting stronger everyday.
In the last update, his rescuers said he would be castrated and get a loving forever home soon. We hope this will mark a brighter chapter in this little fellow’s life.
