On a cold day in Saraland, a sweet pregnant dog was found abandoned by the side of the road. Residents mentioned seeing her lingering around the same spot all day after being dumped. Heartbreakingly, this poor girl, heavily pregnant and about to give birth, had been left to fend for herself in the cold. It was impossible to leave her there.
We named her Lotus, a symbol of beauty and resilience. A visit to the vet confirmed her pregnancy via X-ray, revealing a litter on the way. At around three years old, Lotus showed signs of having once been a beloved pet. She was extremely well-mannered, affectionate, and house-trained, knowing basic commands.
Soon after her rescue, Lotus began delivering her pups. The labor was long and exhausting, but Lotus was remarkable throughout. She gave birth to eight healthy puppies, each a tiny miracle. Despite her exhaustion, Lotus was a doting mother, caring for her “Flower Babies” with unwavering devotion.
Day 6: Lotus continued to amaze as a mother, nurturing her eight little ones. The Flower Babies were thriving, each one uniquely adorable.
Day 7: The Flower Babies turned one week old. They were growing stronger and starting to show their personalities—sweet little nuggets of joy.
Day 12: Tiny eyes began to peek open! Watching the pups discover their world was a heartwarming sight.
Day 14: At two weeks old, the Flower Babies were now three times their birth weight! With their eyes fully open, they were becoming energetic little explorers.
Day 24: Nearly 3 ½ weeks old, the Flower Babies were full of life and playfulness, each a bundle of energy.
Day 29: At four weeks, the puppies were thriving and growing fast. Lotus, ever the patient mother, began spending less time with her pups as they became more independent and playful.
Day 35: By five weeks old, the Flower Babies were unstoppable! They loved playing with their toys and exploring their surroundings.
Day 40: Nearly six weeks old, the Flower Babies had grown into strong, healthy pups. One by one, they began finding their forever homes.
- Portulaca was the first to be adopted, followed by Lupin, who found a fabulous home.
- Sweet and chunky Tansy joined a loving family, and Yarrow, a bundle of joy, also found his perfect home.
- Cosmos, Lantana, and Chrysanthemum soon followed, each beginning a new chapter in a wonderful family.
- The last Flower Baby, Agapanthus, completed the adoption journey, leaving behind a legacy of happiness.
Finally, it was Lotus’ turn. Her new family adored her from the moment they met her, and after a trial stay, they couldn’t bear to let her go. Lotus was officially adopted, finding a forever home where she is cherished and loved.
Happy Tails, Lotus and Flower Babies! From abandonment to happiness, this incredible family’s story is a testament to the power of love and resilience. Thank you to everyone who supported and cheered for Lotus and her pups on their journey.
