Disney’s crime mystery film Death on the Nile, featuring Armie Hammer, has had its release date moved to February 2022, as reported by Variety. Initially set for a December 2019 premiere, the movie faced numerous delays due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and lackluster performances of other films in cinemas.

Originally scheduled for release on December 20, 2019, the film’s premiere has been pushed back multiple times, from October 9, 2020, to October 23, then to December 18 before the latest rescheduling to February 2022.

The star-studded cast of Gal Gadot, Leticia Wright, and Kenneth Branagh will be appearing in the new Agatha Christie mystery sequel, Death on the Nile. Originally set for release in 2020, the film was delayed until September 17, 2021. However, actor Armie Hammer faced controversy earlier this year, leading to his removal from the Jennifer Lopez film Shotgun Wedding. Leaked texts revealed disturbing content including BDSM, cannibalism, and drug use, and Hammer was later caught boasting about passing a drug test despite having DMT in his system. Additionally, a private Instagram leak showed Hammer with a lingerie-clad woman, sparking further controversy.
Let’s embark on an opulent journey aboard a lavish river cruise on the Nile with Detective Poirot. What starts off as a relaxing holiday soon takes a sinister turn as a mysterious death occurs on board, forcing Poirot to delve into a murder investigation.
Whoops! Initially, the movie was supposed to come out on Dec. 20, 2019 but got pushed back to Oct. 9, 2020. Then it was moved again to Oct. 23, and finally to Dec. 18. Armie Hammer addressed the allegations on Jan. 14 by stating, “I’m not going to respond to these claims, but with all the online attacks against me, I can’t leave my kids for 4 months to film in the Dominican Republic.” The Los Angeles police have started an investigation into rape claims made against Hammer after a former partner filed a complaint. The accuser stated that Hammer raped her for over four hours in 2017 and was also abused throughout their on-off relationship. She mentioned that Hammer also physically assaulted her by slamming her head into walls and beating her feet with a riding crop to the point where she couldn’t walk.
Changes were made to the release schedule of Death on the Nile in November 2020, with it and Free Guy being removed from theaters. But in the following month, it was announced that Death on the Nile would now be released on Sept. 17, 2021.
