His name is Toad. Yes, you read that right. Toad is not your typical rescue dog; he’s a remarkable survivor with two ears on the left side and an extra mouth underneath them. Toad’s unique appearance is just the beginning of his incredible story, one that exemplifies the resilience and unbreakable spirit of the Mytt Misfits, a rescue group dedicated to saving the most overlooked and misunderstood dogs.
A birthday to remember
Toad recently celebrated his birthday, a day filled with joy and reflection for all of the Misfits. The celebration was a reminder of how far he’s come and the battles he’s fought. The team decorated the rescue center with balloons and streamers, making sure Toad felt like the queen he is. A special dog cake was baked, with cornstarch frosting and Toad’s name written in bright colors. Her favorite toys were put away and Toad spent the day surrounded by the love and affection of her human and monkey friends.
Toad: the glue that binds the dead
Toad’s role in the Misfits goes beyond her endearing quirks. She’s the glue that holds Heather, the rescue founder, together. Heather has dedicated her life to saving dogs and facing the relentless challenges of high veterinary bills. Through it all, Toad has been by her side, offering comfort and company. Toad’s presence is a daily reminder of why we do what we do: to give dogs like her a chance at a better life.
Living with challenges, prospering with love
Despite the complexities of his condition, Toad enjoys a good quality of life. His extra mouth, while growing and occasionally causing nerve interference, rarely triggers bouts of pain. It can, however, cause temporary blindness, which adds another layer to his care. Through it all, Toad’s spirit remains unwavering. He navigates his world with a mix of curiosity and bravery, inspiring everyone he meets.
