Real Madrid has clarified its stance on Carlo Ancelotti’s future as head coach following the team’s 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Clasico. The match, held at the Santiago Bernabeu, saw goals from Robert Lewandowski (two goals), Lamine Yamal, and Rafinha Diaz.
According to the Spanish outlet “Relevo,” president Florentino Perez is unhappy with the team’s performance this season under Ancelotti, especially given the presence of top players. He has expressed a desire to reach out to Zinedine Zidane to discuss a potential return to coaching.
The report suggests that the impact of the Clasico loss will be felt in the coming weeks, as Ancelotti appears to be losing support within the club. His position is precarious, particularly after Perez indicated that further defeats could lead to Ancelotti’s dismissal and Zidane’s reinstatement.
It was also noted that Ancelotti may have the option to stay with the club in a different role, even if he is no longer the head coach.
Real Madrid suffered a 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season, placing them 6 points behind the league leaders, Barcelona, and in second place. Substitutes often await opportunities to showcase their talent, especially during challenging periods. Ancelotti has decided not to give a certain Real Madrid star another opportunity following a disappointing performance against Barcelona.
Substitutes are always eager for a chance to demonstrate their abilities, especially when key players are sidelined. However, this does not apply to Spanish defender Lucas Vazquez, who is completely out of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Real Madrid. Despite having a significant opportunity to start due to Carvajal’s injury, the coach has little faith in him.
With uncertainty surrounding the potential acquisition of a right-back during the January transfer window, Ancelotti plans to utilize another option rather than rely on Vazquez after his poor performance against Barcelona. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Ancelotti intends to favor a French player over Uruguayan Fede Valverde in that position until a right-back is signed.
The Madrid outlet emphasized that Ancelotti has zero confidence in Vazquez following his display in the Clasico, effectively closing off any chances for the player in the near future.
