Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese released a new episode of her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” this week, and it has made its rounds all over social media, mostly because of who the special guest was.
Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, made an appearance on the show where she discussed her previous relationship with the three-time Super Bowl winner.
However, Nicole’s participation in the podcast didn’t sit well with fans of Taylor Swift, the popular singer who is currently dating Kelce.
Reese received some backlash for bringing Nicole on, with many Swifties jumping in and claiming that Reese’s guest was solely for views.
The former LSU Tigers star responded to some of the criticism she has received with an X post on Friday afternoon.
“Hating pays too,” Reese wrote on X with a nail polish emoji.
Reese received even more pushback for this post, and Swifties decided to dig up a message from Reese’s rival and fellow WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, who welcomed Swift to Chiefs Kingdom a little over a year ago.
“Taylor Swift welcome to the good side Chiefs Kingdom,” Clark wrote on X on Sept. 24, 2023.
As a result of Clark’s post resurfacing, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star has started to see her fanbase grow even more, with Swifties coming in hot with their support for the point guard, while others were happy to welcome Swifties to Team Clark.
“i might start stanning. where do i start with wnba,” one fan said.
“tayblessings to u cc gonna support u next season”
“yall the quotes here are just swifties rooting for CC and i cant wait for swifties to fight our battles for us. This and the angel reese podcast clip doing wonders for us”
“We got swifties on our side”
“the swifties finding this”
“yeaaa come on over swifties”
Kelce and Nicole had an on-and-off relationship for about five years, from 2017 to 2022, before Kelce and Swift started dating in the Summer of 2023. Swift made her first appearance at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season when the Chiefs hosted the Chicago Bears
Clark and Reese both saw their rookie seasons come to an end early. Reese suffered a wrist injury that kept her out of the Sky’s final six games, while Clark and the Fever were eliminated two games into the WNBA playoffs.
However, both stars had a historic first year, consistently breaking records and even making it to their first All-Star game. Reese will make her return to the court for the inaugural season of the 3-on-3 Unrivaled league, which starts in Jan. 2025. As for Clark, it appears she will not be involved with the new league, but that remains to be seen.
