Derrick Rose’s son Derrick Rose Jr., also known as PJ Rose has made headlines on the internet for his basketball skills. However, a lot is not known about the son of the former NBA player.
According to an Instagram post by PJ Rose, he was born on Oct. 9, 2012. He is the oldest son of the former Chicago Bulls and Memphis Grizzlies star and his only child with former girlfriend Mieka Reese.
The couple separated after four years since their son was born. Despite their separation in 2016, the couple have been committed to co-parenting their son. From his school to his basketball games, D-Rose has been a constant supporter of his son.
PJ Rose has already shown his talents in basketball, even outside his school. Earlier this year, he was part of Ja Morant’s AAU team, Twelve Time. Despite being in fifth grade, PJ was selected for the team that accepted only sixth—and seventh-graders.

From the viral video on the internet, it was apparent that Rose was blessed with his father’s talent for scoring buckets. Even when he was very young, he was regularly seen with his father practicing on the court.

After separating from Mieka Reese in 2016, Derrick Rose found love again. It was later the same year that Rose and Alaina Anderson were linked with each other. According to People, the couple dated for five years before getting engaged in 2021, when Rose proposed to her at Madison Square Garden.
Two years later, on Sept. 7, 2023, Rose and Alaina tied the knot in Beverly Hills, California. Interestingly, Rose’s former teammate Joakim Noah officiated the marriage. Noah and Rose were teammates with the Chicago Bulls from 2008 to 2016.
Rose and Alaina share a daughter and a son. Their first child, daughter Layla Malibu Rose, was born on Mar. 4, 2018. Just over a year later, on May 26, 2019, the couple welcomed their son London Marley.
When Rose still played in the NBA, Alaina was a regular visitor to his games, sometimes with their children as well. Apart from being a mom of two, Rose’s wife also has her own activewear brand called Keep It Cute Fitness.
PJ Rose also appears to have a great relationship with his two half-siblings, as seen in pictures of him with his young brother and sister. Derrick Rose has seemingly been able to bring all his children together and stay in their lives as an ever-present father.
