Marshawn Lynch takes a cheeky dig at Aaron Rodgers’ age on Pat McAfee Show
Aaron Rodgers is in the unenviable position of being the oldest active player in the NFL. While that’s a testament to his longevity as a player, it also exposes him to jokes about his age from both current and former peers, like retired running back Marshawn Lynch.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” co-host A.J. Hawk asked the former Seattle Seahawks superstar whether he believes the veteran quarterback can lead the New York Jets to a deep playoff run and potentially the franchise’s second Super Bowl win. Lynch heaped praise on Rodgers before taking a swipe at him.
“I will always pull for Aaron Rodgers because I know the work ethic that he has… I know how smart he is and I know how much he loves football… I think he’s 47 or something,” Lynch said.
The 40-year-old quarterback has looked good under center for the Jets in his first four games after returning from a season-ending Achilles injury. However, he is looking to bounce back after a tame outing against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.

Last Sunday, the four-time league MVP and his team suffered an ugly 10-9 loss, which ended their two-game winning streak and saw them drop to 2-2. Rodgers completed only 24 of his 42 pass attempts for 225 yards with no touchdowns in a rain-soaked afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
While the weather played a massive role in both offenses struggling to move the ball downfield, the veteran took the blame for the loss.
“The weather sucked, but so did some of my throws. We had some chances, but way too many mental mistakes, too many poor throws, and then we just missed some easy stuff, some protection stuff that should’ve been easy, some route-adjustment stuff that should’ve been easy,” Rodgers said in the postgame press conference.
The Jets will be looking to get back to winning ways in Week 5, but it will be no easy feat, as they’ll take on the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
The veteran will be eager to get the win against Minnesota, make the trip across the Atlantic worthwhile, and prevent the Jets’ record from dropping below .500.
