Angel Reese, Sheryl Swoopes Make Their Opinion of Caitlin Clark Crystal Clear.-davinci

By now, many know the controversy surrounding WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

Throughout the 2024 season, Swoopes has made many comments that made it appear that she was against Clark and for Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese. Even when Swoopes discussed the Fever’s success after the Olympic break, she failed to credit to the former Iowa Hawkeyes star while acknowledging other members of the team.

However, on Thursday, Swoopes joined Reese on her new podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” and both had some positive things to say about Clark following her elimination from the WNBA playoffs.

Notably, they included her in the conversation as one of the best passers in the league.

“I got two-and-a-half,” Reese said. “Caitlin, Chelsea [Gray], Natasha [Cloud].”

Swoopes proceeded to reveal her list of the best passers in the league.

“I had for sure on my list Caitlin and Chelsea,” Swoopes added. “And Tash because I love Tash.”

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) walks by Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) during the second half at Wintrust Arena.

Toward the end of the episode, Swoopes, a three-time WNBA MVP and six-time All-Star, gave Clark her flowers.

“I’m going to give Caitlin Clark her flowers,” Swoopes said. “Yes, I said that… I’m going to give Caitlin her flowers because I think what she has done coming into this league absolutely has brought more eyes, whether you like them or not. But has brought more eyes, more marketing. Like people just want to watch the game, and they want to talk about it.”

Clark helped the WNBA see their most successful season ever in 2024. She constantly sold out arenas, whether in Indianapolis or on the road, and help set many TV viewership records.

After a phenomenal rookie season with the Sky, Reese saw her first year in the league come to an end early after suffering a wrist injury in early September. She led the league in rebounds per game and even broke the single-season rebounding before Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson set a new record a few weeks later.
