New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Drops $120K on Autographed Tom Brady Trading Card
He was sitting next to the NFL legend during the auction.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft watched his franchise undergo a massive transformation in the years after a rookie Tom Brady joined the team in 2000. With Brady and Kraft at the helm, the Patriots won their first Super Bowl title in 2002 and earned five more over the following two decades.

Clearly, that first season for Brady was a pivotal moment in the team’s history, and Kraft just decided to purchase a rare memento from that time to remember it forever.

On Sept. 24, Kraft and Brady were seated together at Fanatics’ inaugural “Holy Grails” auction where celebrities, athletes, and business moguls gathered at Harlem Parish in New York City to bid on some of the rarest cards in sports history. Tom Brady trading cards were among the items being sold, including an autographed one from Brady’s rookie season. The four Brady cards there in total we were worth $813,600, per People.

Kraft wasted no time in getting his hands on the 2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket Autograph Tom Brady card. The team owner secured the piece of Patriots history for $120,000. It was certainly a friendly gesture between the two, as they reportedly were talking and laughing together at the event.

Brady doesn’t play around when it comes to his friendship with Kraft. During his infamous Netflix roast earlier this year, the joke Brady seemed to be the most upset about was Jeff Ross’ quip about Kraft’s involvement in a prostitution bust in 2019. Brady took it so seriously he stood up mid-roast and whispered in his ear, “Don’t say that s–t again.”

Nowadays, Brady has been busy in retirement as a commentator for Fox Sports.
