A’ja Wilson Delivers Tearful Speech to Teammates After Winning WNBA MVP.-davinci

After a long 2024 WNBA season, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson was announced as the winner of the WNBA MVP award and, in turn, delivered a heartwarming speech to her teammates.

Wilson had a historic season. She led the league with 26.9 points per game, breaking Diana Taurasi’s 2006 record. She also set new single-season records for points (1,021) and rebounds (451).

With all these records this season, Wilson was undoubtedly deserving. On Sunday, the Las Vegas Aces shared a video of Wilson finding out the news and sharing some kind words with her teammates.

“I cannot thank you all enough,” Wilson said. “I hope you guys understand how much you mean to me. I hope you guys know that this trophy is nothing without y’all. We’ve been through the ringer – and we gon’ continue to go through the ringer – but one thing y’all don’t ever have to worry about is A’ja (Wilson) going anywhere.”

Wilson has now won the MVP award for the third time in her career, the two previous times being in 2020 and 2022.

Her win was unanimous after she received 67 first-place votes. Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx finished second, while Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark finished fourth.

Clark is the first rookie to finish in the top four of the MVP voting since Candace Parker did it in 2008.

Wilson and the Aces are scheduled to tipoff game one of their WNBA first-round playoff series against the Seattle Storm on Sunday.

The game is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
