Early this morning, a man contacted the animal rescue organization Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU) to report a stray dog with a swollen neck.
The citizens harassed the dog and compared it to a pig because of its ugly appearance. The volunteers left immediately and were speechless when they came face to face with the dog.
Despite his severe pain, the stray dog was very sociable and friendly, and approached the rescuers as soon as he saw them. He accepted the food and water they offered him, but refused to be petted because of the pain. For this reason, they were unable to catch him, but after several attempts, they managed to capture him with a net.
The dog was evaluated by a veterinarian, who discovered a large abscess under the dog’s neck, which was covered in swelling. He then dried it, cleaned it, and stitched it up. The medical staff had no idea whether the treatment would work or not, but prayed that it would.
I wanted to give this dog a second chance because he still had his life ahead of him. I monitored him for a few days, but there were no complications. Now that he is much better, he hopes to find a family that will adopt him and take care of him.
