A stray dog had the most heartwarming reaction in the arms of his rescuer when he realized he was finally safe.
This is not the first time we have brought you a heartwarming story about the gratitude and compassion that animals rescued from the streets can feel. Puppies that have lost their families or have been discarded by them, leaving them to their fate. Puppies that have had to endure a hostile world and have had to survive completely alone.
But the fate of these little dogs changes when people with a true vocation and love for animals decide to act to put an end to such tragic circumstances.
Tamara Johпstoп tells the story of Basil, a stray dog who was rescued on the streets of Soпgkhla, Thailand.
Joshua, who is the founder of an organization that works to defend and protect stray and unprotected animals in Thailand, found herself in the middle of a rather busy day. Hot and exhausted, Tamara had decided to stop at a nearby store to buy something to drink and cool off.
But it was on the way to that place that she saw a little dog who appeared to have only been sick for a few months. With his stomach completely swollen while the rest of his body was pale, covered in pests and ticks and with a look of indescribable fear, and with that fear of lust she found little Basil.
Tamara stopped to ask the people at the zoo if they had heard from the puppy, if his mother was nearby and if he had a baby. One of the zoo residents explained to the Thai Street Paws Rescue founder that the puppy had no mother, that his mother was nearby and that the puppy had a little sister but had recently been hit by a vehicle on that same street.
“He goes from house to house seeing what he can find to eat,” commented another of the residents of one of the houses near the street where Tamara found Basil.
What’s more, she picked him up and took him straight to the vet where she gave him fluids and medication to make him feel better. “Basil was doing great, even though I think he was mostly just getting over being so sick. I’m sure it was a relief for him,” her rescuer explained.
Basil will need to stay with the vet for several more days. When he feels better, he will be neutered and spayed, and will move on to live with Tamara or one of the other shelter volunteers until he finds a permanent home. Johost hopes to find an adoptive family for the little guy soon.
The reality is that Tamara sees many more dogs in terrible conditions than she could actually rescue, although she confessed that this particular puppy stood out from the others because of the condition he was in and his young age. “I couldn’t leave him there, he knew someone was going to help him, he didn’t even move. He just fell asleep in my arms, he was finally safe,” she added.

Every living being on this planet feels, and it is extremely alarming to see how, with so little, the life of a little dog can change so much. Likewise, it is this possibility of completely transforming the situation of a defenseless animal that should inspire us to actively participate with similar organizations in our community.
